A one-year Cleft Lip and Palate Fellowship
As an integral part of one of the busiest and most comprehensive multidisciplinary units, the trainee will benefit from the complete spectrum of Cleft deformities, from prenatal care to growth completion. The trainee will be given sufficient surgical hands-on opportunities under direct supervision. At the end of the training period, the trainee will be confident to handle Cleft deformities independently in a set-up with adequate multidisciplinary support. The trainee will also be directly involved in Cleft Orthognathic surgery, Craniofacial (including craniosynostosis) surgery, and other Maxillofacial procedures. The training is 80% clinical and 20% academic, emphasising weekly educational activities and a project for publications.
The prospective candidate must have completed at least four weeks of observer-ship at the unit. The candidate should also complete an internal audit and prescribed rotations in various departments during the period.
Different specialists will evaluate the candidates, and these scores will be added to the entrance exam scores conducted by the university before the fellowship year.
The fellowship is funded by Smile Train, and the terms and conditions of Smile Train will apply.
The unit is also an IAOMS Cleft Fellowship centre and offers training programmes to candidates affiliated with existing cleft centres.
